Just a perfect day

The beginning of a wonderful and memorable trip … to the Diggers’ Club Garden of St Erth, north-west of Melbourne on the way to Bendigo.

We saw bees at work pollinating (left), these wondrous blooms (below) and three wise kangaroos, all in a row (here’s one, right).

A moving story | GardenDrum

Here’s a wonderful blog post from our friend Julie Thomson …

A moving story | GardenDrum. … if you’ve moved house lately, take the time to read and listen to Julie. It’s a gem.

Found him!

The sleeper hit of the decade — for me anyway — is Searching for Sugar Man, the new bio-pic about the artist we have all called simply Rodriguez … we saw it at the Palace Brighton Bay last week. I bought his 70s classic Cold Fact on vinyl back in the 80s and now I’m frantically searching for a copy on CD because the vinyl player has gone to the great jam session in the sky.

Tell us your favourite Rodriguez hits (please leave a comment …)

Dream comes true

I’ve always wanted a black Fedora hat and yesterday was the big day … here’s my new “Bogart” from the Akubra range at City Hatters in Flinders Street, Melbourne. For the princely sum of $145 shop manager Christian helped me select this rabbit-fur beauty then hand-steamed and brushed it ready to wear out into the CBD crush on what was a perfect hat-day … windy, overcast, and just a little chill in the air.

Now you get your say: blogger or serial killer (or both)?
